Yes, I also think that abusive behavior is more common than many people tend to realize, particularly when we consider the psychological and emotional dimensions of abuse. That said, while men are much more likely to become lethal towards their (female) partners, statistically speaking, I also think that women can be very abusive; I've heard way too many stories of controlling women or women who throw a lot of temper tantrums — and these can be forms of abuse.
I do believe this can be fixed, but we'd need much better mental healthcare and mental health awareness across the board as a society. But I'm optimistic; if we *can* ever get to that point, then a lot of the issues that get externalized in the form of abuse will hopefully stop. :)
