This marketing strategy bothers me, but frankly, one of the ads that Bumble ran about a year or so ago bothered(/bothers) me even more: the ad on Spotify wherein a woman launches a very nasal monologue to gaslight herself into enjoying her Bumble date AND gaslight herself over the fact that "usually" her dates are shitty, to the point that she clearly doesn't trust her instincts anymore and tries convincing herself that she's just being too picky and needs to give the person a chance.
Must know you have a gem of a product if you need to acknowledge to your customer base that their user experience tends to be THAT terrible.
I wanted to scream.
