I can also say, from having been approached over the years by an unusually high percentage of very girthy men (not sure how this keeps happening...), that having a condom that's too tight diminishes a lot of the sensation. When I introduced these partners to girthier condoms, they were amazed at how much more they felt.

P.S.: women like to use condoms during masturbation sometimes too; it makes cleanup easier for any penetrative toy, and it also eliminates any in-the-moment need to clean a toy that's been sitting in storage for a while. (Obviously, you wash the toy after every use, but it's good to wash before use too. Condoms let you skip this when you're impatient.)
