Thank you so much for sharing your story, Marissa. You're absolutely right that women need to be given information about fertility preservation and assisted reproductive technologies WAY earlier in their lives — not simply at the age when it's likely late enough for them to need it. Not to mention, as you point out, the sperm is to blame a lot of the time, even more so as the person ages (especially after age 35), and society tends to act as if men's fertility never wanes. I froze eggs last year at age 37 and have very mixed feelings about the whole experience; they only managed to get 3, and I worry about whether any of them will successfully fertilize, implant, or be healthy. I've not yet been lucky enough to partner with someone who actually wants to have a family with me, so I'm worried about the passage of time. It's so important for people to share the stories of their fertility journeys, whatever the result. My heart goes out to you in your struggles. May life bring you peace and comfort. 💜
