Ossiana, I’m so sorry you were put through experiences like that. It’s amazing that you eventually got out of the situation and were able to move on into a happier, more self-directed phase of your life. I may never know exactly what my new “friend” intended or whether the fishy happenings during our time together were simply coincidences that I misinterpreted out of sheer paranoia, but after sitting on the story for way too long, I finally decided it was an important teaching tool in any case. Here’s to hoping society opens its eyes to the existence of female traffickers and starts teaching people how to recognize the signs. In the wake of the Ghislaine Maxwell trial, maybe there’s some hope for greater awareness…
