Oh, how true this is. I once got reprimanded online by some (male) reader who accused me of chalking a man's character flaws up to male privilege. In reality, the essay I'd written was all about how the man in question had changed my life by virtue of his WONDERFUL qualities — no flaws. Nonetheless, the reader couldn't handle the slightest whiff of feminism and felt angrily emasculated by it.
Eventually, too many MRAs got mad about that story (which was all about a guy who was just a genuinely nice person that respected my sexual "no"), accused it of being clickbait... and then it promptly stopped getting distributed by the platform.
I often wonder how far my writing could go if I were a guy...
