Loved your essay, Holly. So many relatable observations about freelancing/editing. Medium’s Partner Program is actually the first content subscription program I ever signed up for too. In my case, it was because I was thisclose to publishing an essay about feeling like a f*ckup, and I wanted the chance, at the last second, to hide all my shame behind a paywall (true story!). But signing up was an easy choice to make in the moment because I felt exactly the way you describe: there were so many great stories on Medium, and being able to read only three per month was far from enough.

Funny thing, I was just about to edit a piece I’d already published — convinced it was not good enough—in the moment that Medium notified me I’d been mentioned here by you. (The perfectionism doesn’t sleep!) That notification distracted me long enough to keep me from messing with an already-alright piece of work. So than you for that. ;)
