Loved this! Allll so true! Some of my favorite sounds were when I lived in a hostel dorm in Shanghai. Not sounds to wake you in the night, but sounds that could wake you up in the morning: a.m. band practice (brass and drums) in the courtyard of the middle school next door, or the somehow-even-louder sounds of neighbors practicing Chinese opera. No alarm necessary. ;)
