Love this whole paragraph. Oddly enough, I ended up reading your essay here just after I was remembering a time when I was riding in a taxi somewhere in Shanghai in 2014 and I had some weird, spontaneous feels-like-mescaline thought that these dudes in the backseat had actually been (in another lifetime) Nazis... and then they started singing the Nazi national anthem, apropos of nothing, moments later. Blew my mind, but also forever changed... well, I'm not sure what, but something about how I see the world.
I tend to keep my weird off the internet, afraid that people can't handle it, or at the very least can't relate. But maybe it's time to throw it all out there. Not for the followers or the clout, but just to see what happens.
All of this to say: thanks for the inspiring read yet again, John. :)
