It sounds like you have some very negative feelings about cosmetics. As I see it, they've been used across many cultures for thousands of years, and often also by men. (e.g.: the USA's founding fathers wore makeup and wigs) The industry engages in problematic marketing tactics, capitalizing on the insecurities they foster, but ultimately, body modification of many varieties seems to be an ancient human cultural universal. If not makeup, then:
- body/facial hair removal (of any kind, for any gender) or styling (e.g., men who hide weak jaws with beards, women who wax away their pubic hair)
- styling of the hair of the scalp (weaves, twists, cutting, braiding, coloring, perming, using gels, etc.)
- piercings
- nail art
- tattoos
- body "sculpting" for cosmetic purposes (whether through exercise or surgical means)
- cosmetic dentistry (tooth whitening, tooth straightening, tooth filing, replacing lost teeth)
- skin bleaching / deliberate tanning
And so on. The list is endless. So I don't judge people over it; I honor their right to choose whether they'd prefer to. BUT you're right that a lot of women would come to realize that they're beautiful without makeup, which would be a healthy realization. Would also save them a lot of money in the long run. Likewise, it would help to readjust men's expectations of female beauty in healthy ways too. Wins all around! ;)
