I'm inclined to agree with you, Steve. Mechanical stuff can be done by computers. Humans are still superior.
Where I really do not see AI being able to help is when a human's writing is so confusing that it's difficult to make heads or tails of the meaning. This is when another human must sit down with them and, line by line and phrase by phrase, clarify (and help to rewrite) the "What do you mean?" question. I don't think machines can figure out that something isn't making sense, or is problematically vague — especially when the syntax is totally fine. (Which is a problem I see in my field a LOT.)
