I’m glad you got out of the second relationship quickly, James. I was in two back-to-back abusive ones: roughly 3.5 years each. I didn’t recognize the problems in the second one, partly because that partner was abusive in a very different way than the first. But after seven whole years in abusive relationships, I finally started being able to recognize the red flags very quickly.
