I'm afraid the larger issues aren't about survival through adaptation. The larger issues are how the quality-control failings of AI will taint the research world (with trickle-down effects on quality of life for the rest of society), and, simultaneously, how there aren't adequate economic safety nets to support humans through the adaptation process. :-/
