If the wages are so low that delivery people are exploiting customers for higher tips, that's definitely a problem. Meanwhile, where I live, most food delivery services are on bikes, and the drivers have practically homicidal road habits, speeding like bats out of hell. Not stopping or slowing when they should, riding the wrong way if it behooves them, etc. In a case of pedestrian vs. bike, especially cargo-loaded bike, it's pretty clear who would lose. I understand that these drivers are desperate for cash, but it disgusts me that they're willing to jeopardize innocent, uninvolved people's health and safety in favor of somebody else — warm and cozy in their apartment — who wants the luxury of a meal brought to their door.
Something needs to change. LOTS needs to change.
