I'd love to see that happen... as long as taxpayers didn't have to bear the brunt in bailing out the bad actors. (In the case of women, we'd have lost doubly then.)

It's interesting you talk about health insurance making a profit off of the current state of affairs. I wonder in which direction medical sexism operates. I've been under the impression that sexist doctors COST health insurance companies a lot. I feel like they're a liability, no? Because when a woman can't obtain the care she knows she needs, she goes to one doctor, and then another, and then another, essentially trying again and again at a series of appointments to be heard. Then, given the delay in diagnosis, it's often more complicated (and therefore costly) to treat her once her problem is identified.

Whereas if our doctors just took us seriously in the first place and solved the problem quickly, it would be much more cost-efficient.... right?

I'd love to know if there are studies with hard numbers on this...
