I was *thisclose* to buying a (tiny) fraction of a bitcoin and an ethereum coin today, but I stopped myself at the last second because I had a nagging sense that, well, entering the crypto market would make me feel exactly like this. I was afraid that such a volatile investment might run the risk of becoming an obsession. Stumbling upon your piece a few hours later feels validating.

Barring anything major that might change my mind, I'll stick to my more "boring" investments and hope that they pan out over the long haul... and that our financial system and social safety net also get a healthy overhaul in the interim.
