Here’s how it works: if you pursue a B.A. in a foreign language at my university, your non-gen-ed classes are almost exclusively lit classes. So apart from 3 (or fewer...) major classes in all my years of that degree, all the rest were focused on literary analysis. I added a qualifier here in the spirit of transparency since “literature” was not the actual title — although it was the focus — of my degree. Hope that helps.
As for your assumption that language in daily life can’t be interpreted for deeper meaning, we’ll have to agree to disagree.
