Great summary, Jean. Indeed, most people in academia can't afford fair rates for my kind of work. And the true obscenity is how expensive a university education is becoming, at least in the US — without any of those profits trickling down from the admins to the researchers, grad students, and instructors who are actually holding the whole enterprise up.
