Fwiw, a friend who knows a little about winemaking explained that white wine is easier to inadvertently taint in the production process, and that it's these chemical byproducts of fermentation-gone-bad that cause the mildly psychotic feelings. But he's not an expert, and I'd like to hear an explanation from an expert. ;)
