…k I have time enough to address the systemic roots of poverty in this essay, but I do often wonder: Imagine if we gave people enough money to live? To thrive? Imagine if people didn’t feel so severely restricted and punished by their poverty? Would we see less crime? Would we see better mental health? Would we see less desperation?
