Beautifully said, Michelle. I also started to like more of Taylor Swift's music as she grew up. I'm only about 5 years older than she is, but this means that I was already out of college by the time she hit the scene. So I identify with the "too old" feeling. Once she hit womanhood, though, her music was instantly more relatable. (There are a LOT of tracks I like, for instance, from 1989.)

I agree with you about how shaming these lyrics is tantamount to shaming insecure teenage girls, and this fact bothers me immensely. Especially for the fact that I don't even think the lyrics themselves are problematic. Thank you for saying everything you've said. :)
