As someone with a dual-title M.A. in the social sciences, your example is much more relatable than you probably even predicted. ;) (Except that, in my case, these discussions often come down to social issues, or the nature of academic/scientific research, rather than climate change.) In my case, too, many of the people close to me think I've been misled.
