Anecdotally, it seems especially frequent among people who suffer from iron deficiency, which limits the availability of oxygen to the tissues. I know I need my ferritin checked when I start yawning several times a minute (i.e., when I'm experiencing extreme and chronic "air hunger"). I'm glad my muscles are getting their re-set and their workout, but I wonder how "air hunger" fits into this....
