Absolutely beautiful essay, and truth in every word. I'm a writer of memoir, and sometimes I think, "My talents are nowhere NEAR good enough for telling this story." But then my inner voice reminds me, Be that as it may, this story was still given to YOU, so YOU are the one the universe has decided is the best to write it. And that helps.

I also used to think I needed to hold on to my most personal stories and wait for the day when I could do them all justice by telling them in Big Picture format. But some of my pieces that have resonated the most with readers are simply the small bits of those stories that I felt capable of packaging up and shipping out at a given moment in time. We have a tendency to sit on our biggest magic and lock away whatever is most sacred (or at least I used to). But what I've gradually been coming to learn is that the sacred is what's supposed to sustain us; the gifts we've been given are not meant for safekeeping so much as paying forward.

Okay, I'll stop rambling. Thanks for this, Taylor. :)
