A guy rejecting my proposed locale would also worry me. I'll share a quick story in solidarity:

A couple weeks ago, a guy in my neighborhood asked me out at random. I'm a low-key kinda lady who likes long walks and the fact that walks involve (theoretically) no risk of anyone spiking my drinks/food, so I suggested what I was comfortable with: taking a long walk together. (Would've been in an area I chose and was familiar with). Instead, he was insistent on going to one of two specific bars — in a city of over 3 million people, where there are certainly more than 2 venues to choose from. I was automatically suspicious of the fact that he was so committed to these precise locations. In fact, I was so suspicious that I purposely took a 40-minute detour on my way home so that he wouldn't figure out where I lived. Further interactions with the guy only reinforced my sense that he was a misogynist and I couldn't trust him. We ultimately never went on the date.

As I see it, in 2023, if a guy is clueless enough not to recognize women's inherent safety disadvantages, he's not yet fit for dating women.
